Spec on a Speck

Practicing Self-Care While Getting Comfy With Insignificance

Spec on a Speck started when Speck felt like a speck on a speck in this gigantic universe. But the first “speck” became “spec” because of the interest Speck took in the tech world (spec-specs-specifications…) get it?

Anyway, being a speck on a speck may seem insignificant, and maybe it is, but it’s also a grand thing to be. All those problems that seem so huge aren’t really that big at all. All those goals that are scary because they seem so unattainable? It’s okay. We are just specks on a speck. So go for it.

We live on the one (and seemingly only) planet with life as far as we can see. Maybe there is life beyond what we have observed thus far, but it’s pretty cool either way. What’s even better is the fact that we happen to be the one species aware of all of this. Not only that, but we are alive at the height of the digital era. What are the odds?!

Now let’s get to why I’m here. No, not here on earth. But here in this teeny tiny little corner of the world wide web (does the internet have corners?). As I mentioned, we are at the height of the digital era. The future might be really cool, or really really bad because of it. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have much control of the outcome. Most of us probably don’t. But we do have control over how we handle living here right now.  We can try to live our lives in the best way possible in the short blink-of-an-eye time we are here.

Living in the digital era means experiencing technology growing exponentially, and I don’t want to fight it. I don’t want to vilify it. I want to grow with it. That’s it. That’s why I’m here. To encourage embracing technology in a healthy way, rather than encouraging everyone to drop what they’re doing to run away to the mountains (though that sounds pretty amazing most days).

It’s going to be a bumpy ride. But let’s put on our seatbelts rather than get out of the lift.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day, my fellow specks.
